Resident Evil Re:Verse, the PvP multiplayer game experience, will not launch alongside Resident Evil Village next month as originally planned. As noted by the official website, the release window for Re:Verse has instead been altered to Summer 2021.

Originally, Re:Verse was going to be bundled with Resident Evil Village for that game’s launch on May 7. However, it appears fans will now have to wait a while longer to experience the finished version of Re:Verse.

Last month, Capcom announced an open beta for Re:Verse set for April 7. The beta test was supposed to run through April 10 for gamers on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam. However, Games Radar reports had to suspend the demo shortly after it began due to suffering from matchmaking issues.

In Re:Verse, players will be able to take part in four-to-six-person survival horror revenge matches using various characters from the Resident Evil Series. After a character dies, their body becomes a bioweapon, which can be used against other players to earn more points.

Resident Evil Village Release Still on Track for May 7

Hopefully, the issues plaguing Re:Verse will be fixed before the extra multiplayer game experience finally launches. While the delay is unfortunate, it’s better to hold it back and release the multiplayer game when it’s ready than to release it as broken. Furthermore, it would be regrettable if the recent momentum and goodwill that’s been gained from the franchises’ more recent successes were marred by a broken launch for the Re:Verse experience.

The good news is that Resident Evil Village is still on target for its May 2021 release. Also, Re:Verse will still be a free experience for Resident Evil Village owners. Resident Evil Village, the next installment in the mainline RE franchise, will hit the shelves on May 7 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Windows PC via Steam, and Google Stadia.
